Celebrate National Cheese Lovers’ Day
Our new favorite holiday!
Our new favorite holiday is around the corner. Yes, the National Cheese Lovers Day is a thing, and we celebrate it every January 20. Yes, it’s as fun as it sounds. The extraordinary holiday is more than an homage to all the people behind our favorite cheesy snacks; it’s also an opportunity to get together with friends and family around the table. How to celebrate cheese lovers’ day? Here’s all you need to know!
🧀Cheeses to try on National Cheese Lovers Day
This year, we’re highlighting superb cheese from Spain💃. See if you’ve tried this delightful selection.
Mahón. This is a pressed paste cheese from the Balearic Islands, and it’s made with ancient methods going back for centuries! Some cheese is made with pasteurized milk, but the best is made with raw milk and has a lovely orange rind.
Manchego. The king of Spanish cheese. For this one, artisans make a medium-hard cheese exclusively with milk sheep in the La Mancha region. You can find bright and fresh young Manchego, but the tastiest is well-aged. This is one flavorful cheese!
Ibérico. Ibérico cheese is a unique pressed paste cheese made with three kinds of milk: cow, sheep and goat. It comes without saying, this cheese has incredible versatility; you’ll find it semi-cured, aged for 1-3 months and fully cured, aged for up to six months.
Idiazábal. This is a specialty from northern Navarra, and it’s a traditional farmhouse, hard cheese made of raw sheep milk. More rustic than Manchego, but equally flavorful, there’s no doubt Idiazábal is worth seeking.
✨🎉Are You Ready to Celebrate?
National Cheese Lovers Day is not that much about the cheese, but the people who enjoy it. This means the best way of making the most of such a tasty holiday is by putting together a cheese platter and calling some friends over. Of course, food-themed days on the calendar are also a great excuse to hone your cooking skills!
If National Cheese Lovers Day sounds like fun, January 21 is National Cheesy Sock Day! No, you don’t have store cheese in your socks, just wear a fun weird sock that day. We won’t judge, we all have a pair in our sock drawer.
